Last weekend I participated in a team race from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea...that is a 242 km run over the course of about 20 hrs straight. Let's say by the end of it I was very Dead and very Red, and I'd managed to get a bit of Achilles tendinitis in one leg...but it was an AMAZING experience. At first, we ran along the surreally beautiful Dead Sea -- the lighting is seriously perpetually divine -- then spent the whole night running along the desert and continued running along the desert as the sun came up and the mountains arrived, and then we finished in the beautiful bustling port town of Aqaba, and then spent the day there in a beachside hotel with the best burgers I've had yet in Jordan. It was all worth the pain. There were 10 people on the team and we all travelled in 2 vans, rotating one person out every 500 meters, so the whole thing requires an interesting mix of sprint and endurance. Here's some more info on the event: http://dead2red.com/about_dtr.php.
My camera battery was dead but I've stolen these pictures from our team cameraman, Darien.

Divine. Yes.
Still a ways to go...
We had a GLOWSTICK to hand off person to person!
Haha! Passed out in Aqaba at the restaurant before I'd even gotten my burger.
And this was our reward at the end of the race...
Some of the runners (and my teacher friends) on the way back home to Madaba...took us a couple of hrs...it's a lot faster when driving!
